Kia Connected Home @ CES

Fear about battery technology and the limitations of an “EV lifestyle” have long been cited as barriers to adoption of electric vehicles.

To address concerns and inspire consumers to consider incorporating electrification into their lives, Kia wanted to create an experience to help attendees at CES 2024 understand the benefits of electrification. ​

The Kia Connected Home™ is a sleek, modern two-story home exhibit located just outside of the main hall at CES 2024.

The space was designed to introduce showgoers to Kia’s future vision for electrification while providing an oasis from the busy show floor.

The Connected Home demonstrated the all-electric Kia EV9’s bidirectional vehicle-to-home (V2H) charging capabilities.

Illuminated “ribbons” flowed from the wallbox where the EV9 was plugged in and throughout the Connected Home, helping shows that power was being supplied by the EV parked outside.

The Connected Home also featured a central hospitality area, an outdoor lounge space, a flowing water feature, sustainable bamboo landscaping, an observation deck and enclosed meeting spaces.

To ensure that Kia’s entire line of forthcoming EVs could be highlighted, EWI manufactured custom oversized fabric canopies for Kia’s prototype vehicles.

The design embodied Kia’s design philosophy: Opposites United. By pairing geometric shapes with natural materials like wood and water, the Connected Home was bold and modern while exuding warmth and hospitality, making it uniquely on-brand for Kia. ​
