A wireless carrier wanted to allow people to experience fresh new technology in a familiar, comfortable atmosphere?
For the 2019 Back to School season, T-Mobile asked EWI to create a retail display that would help customers envision new technology as part of their existing lives. Rather than casting products in a flashy, unrelatable context, T-Mobile intentionally wanted to make their Back to School products feel approachable and comfortable.
The Back to School buildout places several pieces of new wireless technology in a recognizable context — a student’s desk. The buildout looks immediately familiar and intimate, without being too specific to any specific type of student. In addition to several T-Mobile products, the custom-built desk features several textbooks, a T-Mobile colored desk lamp, metal drawers and mid-century modern desk chair. Our team of designers and fabricators incorporated T-Mobile’s system of product locks and mounts into the display and strictly adhered to ADA compliance and accessibility guidelines. A backlit black and pink Back To School pylon rounds out the buildout.
The Back to School buildout was prominently featured in the brand’s flagship Signature Stores. EWI handled all parts of the buildout, from ideation and design to manufacturing and logistics. Our team of fabricators quickly executed the final design flawlessly, which allowed us to deliver the displays to T-Mobile’s stores on time and under budget. The success of the program has prompted further collaboration between EWI and T-Mobile.
