The Silent Wings Museum

Situation
The Silent Wings Museum and project designers Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum (HOK) had finalized plans to tell the dramatic story of US glider pilots during World War II. Their challenge was to locate a fabrication firm who would be sensitive to their design intent and provide a quality product while offering real value to the process.

Solution
EWI Worldwide embraced the vision of the museum and design team, bringing it to life through the use of high-quality display cases, unique, high-quality graphic production techniques and a strategic balance of in-shop and on-site fabrication. Our Exhibit Works division worked closely with HOK and the Silent Wings Museum to insure that final material specifications and finishes met the highest standards possible, while adhering to a tight production budget. Complex graphic arrangements were executed affordably and accurately; media and interactive elements produced by Boston Productions were carefully integrated into the casework and all on site work was completed on time.

Results
Our final deliverable exceeded client expectations and was completed on a tight production schedule—just in time for a Glider Pilot Association Reunion held at the site. In the word of Joe Hays, Director of the Silent Wings Museum, “Exhibit Works demonstrated a commitment to going above and beyond the contract requirements to meet and overcome the unexpected. We look forward to working with them again on additional projects.”
